Fowey Museum

Fowey Museum is housed in one of the oldest buildings in the town, in what was formerly the Borough Council chamber. The room is filled with a wide variety of artefacts illustrating our heritage. Amongst them are archaeology finds from a medieval garde-robe, possibly used by pilgrims on their way to Spain, and displays celebrating our maritime history and literary reputation.

The museum shows Fowey's worldwide links through the export of China Clay and also with the United States of America through Hugh Peters and the D-Day landings, and Italy through Colonel John Peard and Garibaldi.  Our civic pride is shown in the regalia case, with links to a Lord Mayor of London and a renowned Town Crier.  Our core collection is supplemented each year by changing exhibitions commemorating local events and individuals. We have research material available and welcome any additional contributions.

Visit our website for our opening dates and times.
